Ypres in Belgium has been a main centre for visitors to the old Ypres Salient since the end of the Great War. Every night there is a brief ceremony at the Menin Gate to remember those who gave their lives from the British Empire and Commonwealth. Ypres was rebuilt as far as possible to how it was before its destruction in the war. It is a friendly town with many bars and restaurants
